Artist Statement
“Some truths do not need variation” is a looped video piece that explores the enduring nature of certain truths and the ways they resonate across time and space. Centered on a quote by Questlove from their book, “Creative Quest,” the text is generatively presented, swirling around itself in a continuous motion that evokes the form of a sphere.
The rotating text creates the illusion of 3D space, drawing viewers into a meditative orbit where the words become both mantra and object. This motion suggests the unchanging essence of the truth being explored, while the generative form speaks to the dynamic ways such truths are perceived, interpreted, and recontextualized in different contexts.
Through this piece, I aim to juxtapose the stillness of the message with the movement of its presentation, asking viewers to reflect on the constants in their own lives and the ways truth persists, even when the world around it spins. The looped format reinforces this sense of timelessness, offering a visual and conceptual meditation on permanence in an ever-changing world.
