Glitches

A generative, augmented reality series

About

A series of digital prints from video stills with augmented reality (AR) components.

12x12 inch framed digital prints.
2017.

This series of augmented reality-enabled prints explores the intersection of light, sound, and technology as a lens for creative expression. Each print originates as a still image, drawn from a generatively created video that transforms captured light and sound into kaleidoscopic visual experiments. These videos, created using glitch art techniques, embrace unpredictability, revealing unexpected beauty in the distortion and fragmentation of familiar elements.

When viewed through the Artivive app, the static prints come to life, animating within the frame to reveal their original motion and sound. This augmented reality (AR) interaction bridges the gap between stillness and movement, asking viewers to shift their perspective and engage with the work in a dual medium—physical and digital.

The incorporation of AR challenges traditional boundaries of printmaking and invites viewers into a layered experience where technology amplifies the narrative possibilities of the art. This process, detailed in my Artivive blog post, represents my ongoing fascination with the interplay of the tangible and the ephemeral. These works invite viewers to explore not only the visuals but also the evolving relationships between art, technology, and perception.
